GroupSpaces is an application for online group management. This can be clubs, university societies, national associations, religious groups, or any group.
GroupSpaces is based in London and was founded in 2007 by David Langer and Andy Young. It hosts groups and users in over 30 countries.
The ability to compose and send email, post newsletters, note events, create a wiki, and manage a group all from one website makes this a unique and useful tool.
The registration process is detailed and lengthy. The dashboard screen is clean and appealing and offers easy to understand options. Each item has simple instructions and templates for entering information. Group promotion is easy by clicking on the promotion selection. The application generates a code to insert on blogs or websites.
This is a very intuitive and easy tool for online groups to use for sharing information, news, and more.
Users must provide a group name, web address, type of group, and category to register. Permissions for who may join and view must be set. Name, email address, and password must be entered. Users may then upload a logo or image, enter a description of the group as well as a website if there is one, contact name, email, and telephone. The next step is choose features for the group. Mailing list, forum, file sharing, profiles, wiki, and more are offered. At this point, members may be added by email address or by uploading a databse in CSV format and managers may be added by email as well.
For groups of less than 250 or student groups, GroupSpaces is free. For groups of 251-500, a monthly fee of £5/month is required. Groups of 501-1,000 cost £10/month. Pricing is available for larger groups as well. Premium services are also available: Ad removal, £15/month, extra storage £5/month, custom domain £5/month, removal of GroupSpaces branding for £10/month.
All services come with a 30 day free trial. Prices in other currencies will be determined at the time of purchase by the exchange rate at the time of the charge.
Any group that would like to keep all communications and information in one clean, easy-to-use application would benefit from using GroupSpaces.
